    I have a 120gb SSD for OS and some games and a 500gb with most of the other games and apps etc on .
    Is there a way that i can protect the 500gb hd from being formatted .
    It shows as " E " in My Computer and with a right click could be quite easily formatted .
    Is there a way to protect this drive from accidental eraseing :confused:

    If you right click and select format, you would still have to press "OK" on a prompt-menu which will ask for what settings you would like to format it with. (Filesystem, etc.)

    Hope that would solve your problem,
    - Scott.

    I see - Thats what i thought.
    Well, first of all, as long as someone have administrator rights of your PC, they will always be able to somehow format or overwrite your drive. Even if you crypt it.

    I don't know of any software at this time which will allow you to remove this option from the right click menu, but maybe if you could play around in the registry for a while, you might be able to edit it.

    You could try this;
    ContextEdit Download - Softpedia
    But i have no guarantee of that it would work, nor how to use the software. (Had to do some creative googling :p )

    Best of luck,
    - Scott.

    Another thing that passed my mind is if that you could run an active application on that hard-drive. I don't think that you can be able to format an drive that has an application running on it ( actively writing / reading from the drive that you're trying to format!
