I am not sure if it is the day that I have been having or I am just an idiot, but I cannot mod drivers for the life of me. I have a 980m (05511028) running in an Alienware M17xR4 with Windows 10, and I am running the 385.41 drivers from the Eurocomm site but they don't have any newer drives from my card/system.
I have tried following a couple of guides but they all seem to have some part that is outdated and I can't figure out the correct new method.
Thanks for any help that you can provide!

I've started just showing people how to mod it on a 1 to 1 basis, but yeah I could have drivers available anytime I needed it, but if he purchased a card from somewhere they should also support it.

Probably will cut down your expenditure of time in the long run when I think about it.

I don't think you need to modify the drivers anymore for 980m on M17x R4 with W10.

I am in process of updating my drivers to the latest version from the link. All I do is delete the folders I don't need and that's it. As far as I remember nVidia added support for 980m for older systems a few months ago. -

Download the latest drivers from nVidia below:

When you extract the exe file into the folder, look inside the default inf nvidia provides with the latest drivers. They were providing support for the last few months if I am not mistaken. No need for any mods

I found the link with the driver changelog after some digging:
https://forums.geforce.com/default/...force-hotfx-driver-387-98-released-10-12-17-/
This is GeForce Hot Fix driver version 387.98 that addresses the following:
- Fixed stutter when gaming on an external G-SYNC monitor connected to Notebook.
- Added support back for Alienware laptops with GM204 GPUs.
From this driver onward no inf modifications were required for Alienware laptops. -
sorry to come in on this, when you installed 980m to your r4 where did you find the unlocked bios? i have hunted high and low for a11 unlock cant find it anywhere.
iam trying to upgrade to 780m. any help or advice on how you done yours would be great. -
mariussx i seen in another post that you said they're is no need to an unlocked bios as well as a modded driver. is this because your running a13. as i was on a11 and i cant install drivers for 780m although bios identifies it.
I admit defeat...I can't mod Nvidia drivers and need help
