I have been reading the forums now for the last few weeks while waiting for my M17X R3 to show up and was starting to get a little skeptical with the build quality I have been reading about.
My Alien landed a few days ago and I am just now getting around to checking it out.
I have to say that I am impressed, I haven't experienced any of the issues that other folks have. No loose screws, no bulges, no flex, no gaps. Very nice.
It showed up to the house ahead of schedule and the price I paid for it, $2084 for the build was pretty cool.
Booted up Brink to check it out and the graphics blew me away. The 6970 isn't bad for the middle of the road card at all.
Opted for the blu ray, 750gb drive, 8gb of ram, the 1080p FHD screen. The Nebula Red is sexy to boot!
All in all a happy camper. I have wanted an Alienware since their inception and now I have one.

Nice, congrats! Army Reserve/DOD contractor here. Just moved up here two weeks ago. Visited Wiliiamsburg and Va beach last summer. Loved it.

Ill enjoy my system once I get it back. 6970s are great cards and very overclockable should the need arise. Best value in terms of $/performance

keep in mind that fourms are "MOSTLY" a place wehre people go to get answers to problems, not rave about how much they love their system lol... as a result, it can seem like "everyone" is having issues with somthing or another. i think that there are quite a few happy alienware M17x owners who are blissfully unaware of our little secret hang out. unlike me, who checks this forum like 100 times a day and my system works perfect. lol damn you OCD.

Haha, very much in agreement with steve1ddd.

Though my system is down, I come around here for knowledge and insight and camaraderie when they work fine. Just to get ideas for upgrades and tinkering.

Though my wife refers to NBR as " your stupid forum thing...
:p I check it on my phone when theres not much going on.

I also noted a lack of peoples ability to utilize the search function in the forums.... Oh well.
