Today i was sitting there updating battle.net and doing various other things mostly watching TV from my plex server via chrome and all of a sudden the whole machine made a pop sound from the speakers and cut out, No life, I thought maybe a dead battery cell and the cord came loose at the same time, But nope, I could press the on button, The fans would turn a few times, No keyboard backlight, No lights and then it would stop.

Decided on a whim to pull my 6990m and all of a sudden the machine worked again, Put it in and nothing again, The fans would turn a few times, Once or twice and that was that., I get the feeling my 6990m may have died after all these years, no burnt smell or anything.

Honestly im surprised your still running a 6990m, they tended to burn out didnt they?

In any case it may be a good excuse to upgrade the GPU then? IIRC it can play with the 780m I believe.
