ok, i searched, looked at intel's specs but i can't figure this out. does the m17x-r2 automatically turbo boost extreme core processors on all 4 cores to 3.2ghz on the 920/940xm processors or do you have to use a 3rd party program to do this? i saw intel's release sheet for the extreme processor is the same as the other i7's, it turbo boosts first to 2 cores and then to 1 like the 720 and 820. it looks like there is a huge 3dmark06 score increase from the 720 and 820 to the 920/940.

You can always run ThrottleStop in monitoring mode and download a simple benchmark like wPrime. Run 8 threads of wPrime and see what multipliers ThrottleStop reports.

I thought by default the M17x R2 ran all 8 threads at the full 24 multiplier even when fully loaded but don't quote me on that. Even if they don't do that by default, one right click on ThrottleStop will let you fix that so it does. That and the adjustable TDP/TDC settings allow the Extreme CPUs to shine.

yes you can, but i dont think u can set TDP/TDC. that's reserved for extreme processors. try to monitor yours first, on mine, even without throttlestop, i have not seen any throttling issues at default speed.

if you can refer to this thread, unclewebb has elaborated in detail how the tool works and answered a lot of questions.
