    Hello,

Again, after formatting my M17X R4 laptop I was playing to games like Diablo 3 or SC2 with 50 FPS which was vey weird for playing with a 7970m graphic card.

I checked on the screen resolution and only appeard Intel HD 4000 not the AMD card. I have install the AMD driver from Dell website but I still don't see the graphic card even when I right click the catalyst system tray icon, it only shows "Intel HD Graphics 4000".

Moreover, when pressing fn + F7 doesn't do anything. Any idea how can I solve this?

    Thanks in advance.

that HD 4000 isnt running at 50 FPS, you may need to reinstall your drivers of go to Catalyst control center and see what it says

and does it show in the device manager?

Are there any yellow marks in device manager.

I would reinstall the drivers again, but this time, make sure the previous driver uninstalled completely. You can use the cataylst install manager but do a complete removal of the amd software

It shows on the device manager without yellow exclamation marks, either HD 4000 either 7970m. Moreover, I can't see the graphic cards on the BIOS for editing. The only thing that can be seen under the "Main" tab where show system date and time are displayes is "Integrated Graphic Card: Inter Ivy Bridge" and "Discrete Graphic Card" ATI GFX. However, none of them can be selected or modified. Any idea?

I have done some more testing. Hwinfo and windows can detect both graphic cards but for what ever reason only hd 4000 is working and i cant switch to 7970m.

I have try removing drivers, executing ccleaner, using also the 3dguru cleaner but nothing, on windows resolution screen or CCC only appears hd4000.

I have just run 3D Mark vantage and it gave me 20'000 mark. I have read in other threads that is not possible with hd 4000. Therefore, the graphic card is switching automatically when resources are needed? Then why it runs at 40 FPS diablo 3?

20 000 in vantage is deffinitely your radeon :). Yes, the new radeon series (7000) is supposed to have 'Enduro' technology, which automatically switches graphics for demanding tasks, like the nVidia's Optimus.

40 FPS in Diablo 3 is deffinitely too good for the IGP, but 7970 should cap it at 60 all/most of the time I think. Might be that it's just drivers/new diablo combo that are too new to be properly optimized.

    20K is with the 7970m. HD4000 scores about 6500

40 fps? Everything maxxed @ 1080p? You still have an issue. @ 1080p, max settings with AA, I get 100+ fps in Diablo 3

While playing the game, click on CTRL + R to get the fps counter on

I have 60 FPS with everything on high, vertical sync, 1920x1080 (Panoramic), panoramic activated and softer textures activated (the option above minimum effects checkbox).

I still feel is very strange :s

well, on a 60hz screen...if you have vsync enabled, you will never go above 60fps, so it's good. With a 7970m it should be stuck at 60fps though. You should never ever go lower. if you remove vsync, you'll see jumps to 120fps...and be virtually pegged at 100+fps

Just out of curiosity. Why does Vsycn lock it at 60fps? What is vsycn actually doing?

vsync forces the game fps to match the refresh rate of the monitor. People usually put it on if there is a lot of tearing on the screen. In this case, the refresh rate is 60hz so you will get max 60fps.

It is possible to go below 60fps if the game is demanding, but you can't go over it
