    when i recieved my m17x r3 a couple of weeks ago, this small thing came with the accessories box. i have no idea what it is, maybe somebody can help give information about it.

    Exactly. Its so you can run your audio out to a receiver which accepts optical in. You would just need to purchase a tostlink cable.

    Unfortunately our R2's didn't come decked out with a optical out sound port.
    You can only use the above gadget if you see the red optical laser coming out of the sound port.
