Good afternoon! I hope all is well. I'm in consideration for a new job and it requires a lot of travel (won't be home for 4 days out of the week). I decided to go with Alienware for a new laptop (it's been 4 years since my last laptop purchase) because I always wanted an Alienware laptop, but always out of my price range. I'm looking at the top-of-the-line X17 series. I have a few questions before I make a purchase.

    1. When does Alienware decide to make refreshes of their current laptop? Updated CPU/GPU?

    2. Is there a way to get one ordered in the "Darkside of the Moon" (Black) color? The current selection only has the white color and it's not my favorite. For the money I'm going to be spending, I want something that would fit in my entertainment center when I'm at home as well.

    3. When is the best time to make the purchase? When are laptops most discounted?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you in advance :).

Nobody can answer this question for you unless they work at dell/alienware, and those same people are legally unable to tell you the answers you want

Dell/alienware is one of those brands that come up with new models every year with the newest hardware so you can pretty much guarantee there will always be something new. In regards to pricing it will depend what country you are in and what the suppliers and sellers are doing

As with all technology, the best time to buy is when you NEED something. If you are buying something for the sake of buying something you will always buy the wrong thing because there is always something newer and better around the corner. Especially right now when CES 2022 is about to happen in about two weeks

Seems most things new revolve around this these days.

I'm eyeing a OP 10 Pro which should be released in the next few weeks according to the latest leaks.

As for Del and other brands... I think it's more about the the CPU release cycles than any set period of time. ADL-P should be released in the next few weeks and some OEM's have been leaking tests lately for a few weeks now. ADL-P will be the biggest jump in terms of architecture in quite a while. 9/10/11 gen are just band aids vs major releases IMO. ADL / 12th gen made the biggest advancements going to 5th gen PCI / DDR and hybrid cores. With this in mind I would hold on for a couple of weeks to see what shakes out at CES for releases / announcements and when they're released either take the discount on 11th gen or pay for 12th gen which should be good for a few years while the market catches up.
