So I'm interested in seeing the OC potential of my 7970m. But I have to be doing this wrong. Whenever I change anything and click apply my screen starts flickering. Even if I say set the OC the core or memory speed by 1mhz.

Am I missing any steps? I set ULPS to 0 in the two folders I saw with it in the registry.

Edit: Also happens if I underclock by 1mhz, so I'm thinking I'm doing something wrong.

That happens on me too. But when I start playing a game, it disappears. :) It doesn't bother me cause I only OC when I game or benchmark.

It does happen, once application is started such as a game or a bench tool it will go away even after the game or benchmark tool is closed, but once the clocks are changed again the screen might/will flicker, wash and repeat previous steps (unless of course you flash your GPU).

Agreed with mikecacho. This is normal under these circumstances. I would not recommend the overclocking due to heat issues but if you keep the temps monitored at all times you should be alright.
    Here is how.

Mine maxes out at 73 C, 100% usage at 1000/1500. Heat shouldn't be an issue for you.

Make a 2D and 3D profile, 2D at stock (or lower) speeds and 3D at 1000/1500. It may go faster or a bit slower, you'll have to dial it in.

Hey guys. I had the issue regarding the screen flickering as well while OC my 7970m, but am glad to know this is normal. I have the Eurocom dell 7970m, using eurocom vbios w/ CCC 12.8.

However, I have been having trouble with MSI afterburner. I am using version 2.2.1 and installed it using the guide/instructions from TheRedninja. I can get the app to open up and adjust clock speeds. I have been using 950/1300 (as seen by other members). When playing BF3, the game will shut down to the desktop after playing a few minutes (temps are ~70C) and I get a screen saying not enough memory. Also, If I close my screen and computer goes to sleep, MSI afterburner will lock up and freeze which will require restarting by holding down the power button.

Also interesting, when playing crysis 2 with OC, I get ridiculous artifacts and the game will shut down to desktop.

Otherwise I my card does well when not OC'd. My temps are stable mid 70s (max 77C) when playing BF3 for some time.

Has anyone else had these issues? Is there something I may be doing wrong?
