That's what I used to get when I didn't use the modded inf. That and are you sure you downloaded the windows 7/8 x64 version?

You need a modded INF, try getting it from laptopvideo2go.com

All you have to do is download the modded .inf file from the link that j95 posts above and dew a few simple steps:

    • Download the modded .inf from the link that j95 posted to above - extract it from the zipped folder and you will see a file called nvdm, which is the modified file you need to "inject" into the driver installer
    • Save it to a location of your choice - I'd choose the desktop so you can find it easily.
    • Download the Nvidia driver you want to use.
    • Uninstall your current Nvidia drivers (all components that are Nvidia related in the Control Panel>add/remove window - a reboot or two may be required during uninstallation
    • You can then reboot into safe mode and clean old/obsolete registry enteries by using CCleaner's registry cleaning tool - it will ask if you want to backup changes, I'd advise doing so. It will tell you exactly what to do
    • Once done, reboot normally
    • Disable Driver Signature enforcement as j95 describe on post #2
    • Run the Nvidia driver installer - it will fail and you will get a message about "no hardware found" - exit out of the installation.
Now it's time to replace the .inf in the downloaded "failed" driver install so that it recognizes your gpu's:

    • Navigate to the file to be modded - it should be something like this: C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\314.07\Win8_WinVista_Win7_64\International\Display.Driver\nvdm
    • Replace the file you find in that pathway with the one you downloaded from Katalin's/j95's post
    • Navigate back to the location C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\314.07\Win8_WinVista_Win7_64\International and at the bottom, you will see a setup.exe - just run it, making sure Driver Signature Enforcement is again disabled

The driver package should now open up and your hardware will be recognized and the driver will install. If you need any more help, just ask.....
