I am trying to replace the motherboard in my M17x. I was told by alienware that all I had to do was search for "alienware m17x motherboard" online and whichever one I purchased would fit correctly. I brought it in to my local computer repair shop and find out that it does not fit ( I was told the cpu was too large). My computer has the intel core 2 quad Q9000 processor. Can someone tell me what type of motherboard I need to specifically look for that will fit my computer?

Since you have a Q9000 that means you are looking for a M17x R1 motherboard, you most likely purchased the R2 motherboard that uses i3/i5/i7 cpu...
    Always check part numbers first.
The motherboard you are loking for must match Dell part number: 0F415N (or sometimes F415N)
