    Hi all,

Has anyone had an issue with the IDT audio driver for the M17x R3? I just performed a clean install of Windows. I followed the driver installation guide in the "How to..." thread. However ever since I installed the audio driver all the Windows sounds lag.

Should I try an older version of the driver from Dell's website or should I let Windows find the best driver? It seemed to work fine with the later option before I installed the driver.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Update: I just installed the oldest audio driver Dell had on the website. It seems to work. However when Windows boots up I can hear a little thump from the speakers, almost like they just turned on or had some interference. Is that normal?

Sorry I'm bombarding this thread but one more question. Could the reason behind my issue be that the IDT driver, Nvidia HD Audio Driver, and Windows driver all be conflicting with each other? Do I need one or the other or all three?

Thanks again for any help. I'd like to get this issue taken care of so I can continue updating and installing programs on my computer.

Thanks for the reply SlickDude. I honestly couldn't tell you though about the headphones. I rolled back to the earliest driver on Dell's website and it seemed to work fine. The only thing is now my S/PDIF out is constantly lit up. Is that normal? And is there a way to turn it off? I have it disabled in the Sound Output options but it's still on.

The S/PDIF jack should be always lit, don't worry.

a little late to this as I am also looking for some answer to the IDT issue as well.

the S/PDIF jack is NOT always lit. as the IDT drivers control those ports it can see what is plugged in. with IDT installed on my M18x it recognizes the cable plugged in and will turn on the light if needed. if the light is always on than either the drivers are not installed or an incorrect version is.

That's the "power saving" feature of the IDT driver. Just go to the IDT Control Panel > Scroll to the Advanced tab > Uncheck Power Management. That should solve the delay that you experience with the Windows startup sound and others.

If you can't open the IDT control panel because the .startup error just navigate to C:\Program Files\IDT\OEM\Dell and copy the IDTNGUI.startup file to C:\Program Files\IDT\OEM

    That could solve your issue.

Hello, you could also try to install the video driver without the Nvidia HD Audio option.
Check the advanced audio options, make sure you are using the right speaker output. Let us know on the progress, thank you
