    hi,

    im on a m17x r3 with a 2760QM and a 6990m, received my alienware two days ago.

I want play bf3 at good framerate and seems like hypertheading is not giving me smooth gameplay at all.Im using 11.11c, it give me a bsod installing, restart giving permision to non signed drivers, install 11.11c over again, and then finished fine.

Are 11.11c the best drivers for bf3 and skyrim now?

Should i update or wait for the a09 unlocked?

Just a question, do you know what hyperthreading is? Hyperthreading is not a determining factor that makes your gameplay smoother...

Anyways, only go unlocked if you need it at all.

In bf3 yes, is a know problem.Like other games supposed to be optimized for HT that dont work like expected.

Anyway is there a form of backup my a09 to rollback if the a08 dont work fine for me? i dont see a download link (A09) for the m17x r3.

A09 is not out yet. Only place are shipped with laptops. I don't think the bios will help much with hyper-threading. Perhaps your expectations are too high for BF3 frame rates?

If A09 introduces the microcodes for the newer CPUs you might have problems with A08.

BF3 will not max out smooth. I have the same config I turn (MS)AA off that's enough for 40/50fps but I normally turn down the setting a little bit more so I get 50/60

svl7 you are mistaken, A08 was the transition to newer CPUs. No one knows what A09 introduces as there is no sign of it on the internet only in newly shipped R3's.

On my i7 2600k + 5970 HT make the game stutter, disabling ht make game very smooth.

Mkkillah what are your seetings? im using all high, msaa off, post aa high/medium, blur disabled i see normal 40-50 frame with drops to 30-32 sometimes, but game dont move like if im playing at 50 frames.Im on 11.11c.Best driver for 6990m for gamming?

    Reduce this for better performance.

If you really think hyperthreading is hurting your performance, just set the core affinity to 2-3 cores in windows and see if it changes.

However, HT is easily disabled via the Power menu in the unlocked A08 BIOS if that is your preference.
