I really have no idea on where to go for help on this other than google and that has led me here.
We have an M17X laptop that we recently purchased and our problem is that not a single game will run properly on it without crashing to the desktop. It could happen in 2 seconds or half an hour, every SINGLE game crashes. All that pops up is "Game has stopped working looking for solution, etc."
Please, I lack the technical No-how to really fix this problem myself so if anyone is willing to provide some advice, I'm in desperate need of it.

Download HWiNFO32 exe and install then you will be able to see a breakdown of your spec.

On the back of your laptop there is a barcode with a service tag. This 6 digit number is personalized to your computer. Go to Dell.com or your courntries Dell website. Drop down the for home tab. Open support and drivers. Click on driver & support. You will now see a box where you an enter your call tag. The next page that will pop up will give you access to all the drivers availaible for your system.

You can get your model number from the bios boot menu when laptop starts. There are two version of M17x, the R1 & R2

Not sure if this is a new model or an older model. If you are running any kind of Antivirus I would remove it and use the FREE MICROSOFT SECURITY ESSENTIALS.

Depending on what the problem is you may have the option to reset your computers drivers to factory new conditions. This is done through Alienware Respawn or on newer M17x through Dell Data safe utility. Check your owners manual.

You are the second person today that has posted a Windows operating system with BUILD 7600. This usually means BETA or Non Authorized windows operating system. I would run the windows validation tool before doing anything else.

Anyone else like to comment on BUILD 7600? I am wondering if people are selling used laptops and supplying them with BETA version operating systems. Any thoughts?

OK you got a M17x R1 WITH A QX9300 ,2X ATI 4870's in Crossfire.First thing i noticed is your bios revision is A02 you must go to Dell & dl bios A03 DONT dl A04.With the current bios your running A02 is not good.Plus i would update your ATI drivers to mobile version 10.5

From what I have read further the 7600 was the first "release to manufacturing" after the beta. The day before it was released to manufacturing their was a security breach and Chinese copies made. Obviously anyone who has this build and purchased from Dell is okay. Anyone who bought a second hand machine off Ebay should check it out.

    "Build 7600.16384
Build 7600.16384.win7_rtm.090710-1945, built on July 10, 2009, leaked on July 12, 2009 in both x86 and x64 versions;[63] a Chinese individual uploaded an OEM copy of Windows 7 Ultimate build 7600, reportedly given to Lenovo.[64] The disc image contained the crucial boot.wim file given to PC manufacturers to pre-activate PCs at the factory. The file contains both the OEM activation certificate and the product key. The OEM-SLP product key is said to be a master product key and can be used to activate PCs from many brands including HP and Dell.[65]

In a recent blog post, however, Genuine Windows director Alex Kochis stated that the product key is indeed valid but will only activate PCs from the original manufacturer it has been given to.[66] Kochis went on to say that anti-piracy technologies built into the operating system would detect copies activated with the leaked OEM certificate and product key as non-genuine and would notify the customer that they are running a possibly counterfeit copy of Windows.

It has already been proven however, that the product key and certificate are able to activate Windows 7 build 7600 on many different PC brands.[65] It is not clear however, if copies of Windows installed this way will pass Microsoft's Genuine Advantage check if the product key is blacklisted. If so, OEMs will be forced to recollect PCs manufactured, installed and activated with the key and install different keys."
