    Hi,

I finally got convinced by all the problems and suggestions here on the forum to upgrade my wifi card from the crappy DW 1510 to the Intel 5300 AGN.
I've just bought it, recieved and installed it, using the bluetooth antenna as the 3rd antenna. BTW I got the m17x first gen.
I've downloaded multiple drivers from different sources such as Dell, Microsoft and Intel.
    Driver versions 13.1.1.1, 13.2.0.2, 12.4.1.4.

Anyway, by just inserting the card windows7 x64 should look for the drivers itself. It didn't...
So I went and installed the official Intel drivers, upon clicking on the exe file a window opens saying: "Now performing Intel PRO/Wireless network driver installer operations. Please wait..."
And the window closes without confirming if it got installed sucessfully, don't know if that's normal.
Now, there is still no wifi card found/recognised or anything, however I've found an entry in the Device Manager for a new Network Controller called Intel(R) WiFi Link 5300 AG with a yellow triangle.
Device Status: This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31).

I've also tried to installed the drivers from Dell, but I get an error when starting the Setup.exe: "This software cannot be installed on your system. The setup application will exit."

I've also had problems with not signed drivers from Intel.

Can anyone please help me to get this Wifi card working?

go into device manager, click on the yellow exclimation mark, then click the box that says "update Driver" then it will give you options select "browse my computer for drivers" then select "browse" then select the file path that leads to where you downloaded the driver to. i usually use my desktop but you may use another place. click on that and it should install the inf file that contains the driver for the card.

yeah, I've done that a couple of times and it gives me different drivers to choose from, Intel or Microsoft.
But I keep getting the same error: "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)."
OR "The style of the INF is different than what was requested."

I introduced the card easily in his slot, nothing forced...

cards probably bad. try a different card..... other than that try uninstalling it in the device manager, use driver sweeper to get rid of the old driver that you installed and then re-install the card, & then use the "have disk" method with out using the autorun installation.

Actually yes, I've tried a fresh Windows 7 install and it works like a charm.

So, what might be the problem with my windows 7?
