    I got M17x R3.

    1. Switch integrated -> discrete graphic card didn't work (both FN+F7 and other manual way)
    2. I decided to disable integrated graphic card to use battery-saving discrete graphic card in the device manager.
    3. I turned off the PC, and when I turned it back on, HD 6990M under display adapter in device manger is NOWHERE to be seen (only HD Family graphics, which is a discrete card).

Here's what I tried to do so far.

    1. FN+F7/clicking igfx tray module
---It says switchable graphic detected, but it doesn't open the program nor switches it.

    2. Alienware M17x Graphics Fix - YouTube
---My BIOS doesn't look the same. It say integrated graphic is Intel Sandy Bridge or something like that, and discrete 1 is HD Family Graphics card or something like that. There was nothing I could've done with options given.

    3. Update graphics card. (Just added a new driver onto the driver I had)
    ---Not working

My laptop is charged fully, plugged in, integrated graphics card worked until I disabled it.

Isnt the integrated card the one found in the processor and the 6990m the dedicated one? Confused. Anyways...CCC has an option to switch graphics to the high-powered (6990m)/battery-saving graphics (intel HD). I usually get to this by right clicking the desktop and clicking configure switchable graphics...and yada yada....

What im getting from what you said is that your 6990m is not being detected by the bios. Under discrete graphics it should say ATI GFX or something along those lines.

Maybe try resetting the bios by doing a power drain. Check this thread. I dunno if its the same issue but It seems similar in a way. http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m17x/629242-6990m-not-detected-after-repaste-help.html

Yes, the other post is stating things backwards. You are not confused. The 6990M is the discreet (dedicated) GPU. The Intel "HD Family graphics" is the integrated graphics (IGP) that offers power-saving features.
