Do both these SSD's work perfectly fine with the Alienware M17x R3?

I've heard the with the Intel one there can be problems (on an Alienware system.)

The 830 works fine for sure, it is the one Dell uses.

Why not go for the Intel 520's?

For me, with SSDs, reliability is absolutely everything. You'll never notice the difference between an Intel 520 and an OCZ Vertex 4.

My crucial has been rock solid and I don't think any other people have had a lot of problems with these drives. ;)

I have heard of some issues with the Intel 520 stemming from their use of the sand force controller. However, the reliability seems much better than past ones.

Personally, I prefer the Samsung 830 series. I've owned 4 systems with Samsung SSDs, and the reliability and speed have been great.
