Is there a specific model number of this card that should be bought or should be avoided .
Looking on websites i see some of these cards that claim to only be for IBM or other makes.
I have also seen some that are for various Dell models although i havn't seen the M17X R2 listed.
Its all very confusing and just want to make sure i get the correct one

    TIA

I have the Intel 1000 and was thinking of upgrading to the 6300 as well so I can keep WIDI and was wondering about these $20 Intel ultimate 6300 that state they are only for IBM/Lenovos. I don't see why they wouldn't work in our m17x's, but would like confirmation before I buy. I was also wondering if they are fake as they ship from Hong Kong. Anyone know?

Lenovo whitelists wireless cards in their BIOS. It means if you put in a non-Lenovo branded card from the right generation INTO a Lenovo, it will refuse to boot up and say unauthorized wireless card installed. This also goes for HP.

Dell/Alienware does not care, you can use Lenovo or IBM or any other OEM branded card.

Ahh, so we can put this card into our m17x's. Thanks. I remember reading about Lenevo whitelisting components a while ago but forgot what it was all about.
