    Hey everybody!

So I totaled my m17xr3 and was successfully able to restore it, but the process involved me taking out the dedicated GPU (hd6990m) and than putting it back in. It took me couple of tries, but now the r3 reads it again and the only problem is that my Intel PCH is overheating.

I'm looking at HWinFO64 and its sitting - while I'm typing this - at 73°C. My GPU and CPU both sitting at 58°C - which is not great, but not awful. During gaming though while the GPU goes to 67°C, CPU to 75°C the Intel PCH goes over 90°C sometimes close to 100! I think that's what might be causing drops in FPS during games and stutters - not even speaking of damaging the r3.

So, my question is, is it possible that I misplaced the thermal pad? The r3 gets really hot in between the cards right where the alien head is (the turn on button). If so, could somebody direct me to a picture of correct thermal pad placement on hd6990m?

    Thank you!

It is possible, you could try re-putting it.
