I'm just wondering if anyone knows about Dell's International warranty transfers because I bought my laptop from Dell USA to get a better price but I live in Canada. I'd just like to know how a 3 year advanced warranty would transfer and if I would have to pay more to transfer it to international. Thanks.

You should have no issues, even if you bought the system in the USA. I leave in Canada as well and purchased my system from dell.ca through an alienware representative.
My point is, I travel alot and had issues with the motherboard while I was away (in Dubai). Immediately, within 3 days I had a technician to my office there and replaced the motherboard without issues. However, if you wanted transferred to Canada from US (the warranty), you can google for warranty transfer form from Dell or you may be able to get it even from dell.ca website. There should be no charges what-so-ever but, it will take a bit longer to process the transfer request (I think 2 weeks).
Hope this cleared your doubts... -

However, if you do not change your warranty and still you are going to keep it as a 'US resident', whenever (hopefully not) you will have an issue, call or chat with the US representative and tell them that you are in Canada in visit or staying with someone for a while and to arrange an technician from here to come and fix your machine.
Please note: According to what I was told by Dell representative, if you stay longer than 6 months in a totally different country then the one that you have purchased the system, you should register it in the place where you are at the moment. I guess, wait for few months, then call them and tell them that you moved from US back to Canada and to transfer your warranty here (Call Dell support in Canada). -

I have bought several Dells from the USA and never had an issue transferring the warranty to Canada.

I bought my M17X a little more than a year ago, as I was staying in New York.
Since then I have moved to New Zealand, and had to replace parts 5 or 6 times. Under international warranty I never had an issue getting service. I call dell support New Zealand, rather than US support, and sometimes I get asked if I would like to transfer my warranty to New Zealand. I noticed that it makes no difference in regards to where my warranty is to the service I get. Normally I get home service within 2 working days.
If you call Canada support you the only inconvenience you will have is that your express code won't be recognized and you will be transfered straight to a representative within 10-20 seconds. On the other hand, when I called dell in the US and used my express service code I had to wait 2-5 minutes for service. -

It is on the underside of the computer. There is the service tag on a black sticker and your express service code is to the right of it.

I actually spoke to a Dell sales rep about the 'Global tag transfer' issue a few weeks back in case you are in another country (India in my case) for more than 6 months. She saide clearly that this is not required for the 3 year advanced warranty (which was the one I was getting)... The tag transfer would be required only for the stock warranty I believe. When you purchase a 3 year advanced warranty, it seems full international support is a default.

Look I'm Brazilian, I bought my M17xR2 in the USA when he was traveling ... I immediately went back to Brazil, with six months of use the machine began to suffer from overheating i7 920XM processor. I called DELL BRAZIL 2 days later there was a technician at my house. He worked one more time well and returned to the same problem
, which was exchanged several pieces and have not had the expected result of improvement. After the fifth coach in my residence got in return process, since in Brazil there was the possibility of the machine change. 30 days after received the amount paid in the USA without problems. . All this without making the transfer guarantee. Now I think I'll do to my r3!
Thank you and I have helped too.
