Some very interesting points made for and against different versions of av from different providers. I suppose the bottom line is that "if it works for you and you are happy with what you are using then great!" ....if you find conflicts with a particular one, get rid and use something you do feel happy with!

This is how i looked upon it for myself, i was happy with norton 360 on my last laptop (it didnt seem to mess things up) but that laptop was £500....this one cost me £2500 and its obviously more important to me for it to run well with minimal online risks.

Norton 360 (when installed on my m17x) proved to be either too aggressive in deleting required entries/info that it screwed up certain parts of my system...altering the bluetooth drivers etc causing stack errors amongst a few other things that it "messed with"

Had it not done so, i would still be using it but i too am a cautious user and hate getting error messages or virus alerts so it had to go.....after getting rid and swapping to MSE, i can say i have had zero errors, no concerns at all so this in itself satisfies my requiremetns for anti virus.

Not to say that Norton 360 isnt a good product as it may well work well for some people, along with norton a/v software too.

I think its downfall for me was using the crappy system tools that are bundled within....they obviously caused lots of unrequired problems.

MSE seems plain and simple for me as a novice to use, simple UI, does its job, hasnt caused issues (for me so far anyway) so its a keeper for me.

Thanks alot for everyones input here..... :)

No one using the comp but me here so I guess that's where part of it comes in. So Norton does have a lot MSE doesn't, but at the price vs. no price I'm not sure how often I'd use those features.

Thanks for the input about how you use Norton, it helps me get a better perspective of which one to use if my situation changes or I decide I need more stuff. :) If MSE turns out not to work for me, then I suppose Norton will be next in line.
