Is it Possible that something similar to shadowplay will come from AMD? (Regarding 7970m series)

Hi, I currently have an alienware m17x r4 with a 7970m. I would love to have shadowplay but my card isn't Ndivia.

Does the 7970m have an encoder - similar to the Nvidia kepler architecture? IS it possible for the 7970m to have this sort of capability?

I might swap out the card later this year if this isn't the case. Another quick question - they keep on re-branding the 7970m. It's 2 years old and they re-branded it to the 8970m and now the m290x? There much different with these apart from the clocks?

I sort of wished I chose the GTX680m, but at the time the 7970m was faster AND less than half the price. Didn't make sense to pick the 680m.

    Kind Regards,
    Omen321

Unfortunately, no. This is not possible, yet.

So the 7970m isn't capable of doing this, I mean as in does the hardware support this?

I mean the 7970m, 8970m and the m290x are all the same card... so if it was possible and they brought it out this year, it would surely work for the 7970m too.

The shaders are just as programmable, they simply have not developed a tool for real time capture.

Thanks, great to know, I was under the impression it was only the Kepler GPUs that were physically able to do it.I really really hope they do so. Is there anything suggesting they will or that they're working on it? It's AMD we're talking about after all.
