Is it possible to upgrade M17x R3 with 6970m into 3D screen with nvidia card, do I just have to install nvidia graphics card or there is something has to be done with LED for 120Hz frequency output?

Uhh you'll need a new LCD, an Nvidia MXM card, likely a new heatsink, I don't think it is really worth it. Might as well sell the R3 and buy a 3D. Dunno if you'd need a new motherboard, I don't think 3D has Optimus support.

No Optimus with the 3D screen. Laptop will be totally dependent on the graphics card.

And there's also one motherboard for the M17x R3, the 3D panel uses an eDP port so the iGP is completely bypassed, hence no optimus.
