R4 screen has a big drop in brightness and yellowish tinge to it too...

I am considering swapping my screen!

    shouldn´t the new R4 have 3D-vision v2 with lightboost?

its my understanding that the screen should be even brighter than the one used in the R3?!

Incorrect. The R4 display has 3D Vision 2 Lightboost which uses a particular refresh method to allow more light into the glasses. The R3 version just has higher brightness to compensate for the darker glasses.

The R4 display is much more capable when using 3D but the brightness will be the same as the 2D displays. The R3 display is much brighter but has much less features.

The yellowish tint is better colour accuracy. The R3 display always had a bluish tint which you may have gotten used to so the new one seems yellower but actually, the old display was far too blue.

since you are clearly better informed than myself, you wouldn´t happen to have a link/name for the new R4 3D-display? ^^

So how do you guys review the 3D setup on the M17x? I am looking to buy the R4 and wanted to know if you guys think it is worth it and how much you find yourself using it? Also, how bad is your battery life not being able to use Optimus?

    cheers!

I will stick to your advise since you are more technically astute on this matter.

I was very concerned about the colour accuracy.

    Thank a lot...

And yes the monitor is SEC5044.

not sure the r3 display is compatible with the r4 mobo since it is designed to use 3D vision 2. :(
