    Hello MaoMau!

Im gonna go out on a limb here and say that Dell probably have 103203834343 M17X's in stock so I doubt they will be looking for an old one. However "ask and you shall receive"............... the answer that is. My advice would be to stick it on Ebay

Just be aware of the scammers on Ebay or any online marketplace.

    Good Luck

If you have a bit of spare money around & you can get a reasonable deal on a warranty extension from Dell get it.Then it will be a lot easier to sell on to someone if you got another year warranty. ;)

they acutely do have a buyback program of sorts, you must purchase it at the time of your initial purchase and then when you go to buy a new computer you can get a percentage off the price of your original laptop off the new one, there are limitations and they do stick you a bit too. the maximum return is 50% and I believe that's only if the orginal computer is <6months old.

Yeah, I called Dell and inquired about this specifically since Alienware used to have a parts buyback but the answer was even more underwhelming than Lozz's response. Better off going with eBay or Craigs.

Dell will not buy your PC. Your only chance of selling it is through this forum, ebay, craigslist, etc...

It's called techforward. It's $150 to purchase, but it is a buyback program. They don't give you cash, they give you a giftcard to buy a new dell system.

Couldn't say if you can purchase it after you've purchased the system, I can't see why you wouldn't be able to, but you would still fall in the segments according to your initial computer purchase instead of the purchase date of techforward.

Yeah but that's very different than what the OP said. Can I call Dell to sell them my PC.

Techforward is just a type of "time insurance". You basically pay a fee for the right to send back your PC for Dell money on a new system.

Two very different things in between what you say and what the OP says...

well they have a buyback program, but it offers a pittance. Probably better luck continuing to try to sell it youself...

I'm curious as to the price as well. Dell used to let you purchase an extended warranty online thru My Account > My Systems and Peripherals but that page never loads for me anymore on any of my Dell systems. :(

I would expect it to be pretty expensive.. the last time I got a warranty extension letter it was ~ $300 for an additional year of CC.

I extended the warranty on the M17x I purchased on eBay to 4 years, i.e. I purchased an additional 3 years and it was $350. It wasn't Complete Care, which I don't need but the replacement of parts or the laptop if repairs could not be made, I'm not hard on my equipment and CC was not needed.
