I noticed a few days ago that the 4 year advanced warranty only cost $30 more than my 3 year advanced warranty. I am wondering if it is possible to upgrade it without having to cancel my current order and placing a new one. Anyone upgrade their warranty? I am also very interested in getting the internal 60Ghz WirelessHD Transmitter in the near future and last time I checked out the M14x it was $59.99 and today they jacked it up to $99.99! If I do decide to get the wirelessHD I am wondering if it would be covered by my advanced warranty.

You may be able to before it is too late as the warranty prices listed are only with the purchase of the laptop. But really $30 more? I could've sworn yesterday it was an extra $80 or something.

It's on the Canadian Dell/Alienware website. I just double checked and it's $30 more.

Ah for us USA people it is $120 more. I was just about to smack myself when I heard you say $30 more for the 4 year lol.

My system has been shipped so I might just wait until the day I get it to talk with my rep. I have seen a lot of people getting the orders canceled because of misunderstandings and I don't need that. If it can't be added I will just live with the 3 years.

Unfortunately, if you want to change your warranty you will need to cancel your order and submit another one IF you want the same price offered at the time of purchase. If not, once you receive the machine you can upgrade your warranty but it will be more than if you had bought it right at the outset.

Oh well the price could very well have been more than $30 at the time I don't recall but 3 years is still good plus I was able to get $100 of the cost of the warranty.

Edit: It's annoying though because it's not a hardware change but I guess I am out of luck. I am still going to ask once I get it and will post my results.

I have three years as well. I think it is sufficient. After three years, I will be looking to unload this and purchase something new. A three year cycle to refresh your hardware is good.

I agree on the timeline for a hardware refresh, and 3 years is better than 1 or 2 for sure. However, with a 4 year advanced warranty, chances are pretty good something major will fail or get broken, parts will be unavailable, and Dell will provide a current replacement system at no cost. In most circumstances, buying an extended warranty is a waste of money. But, Dell's warranty is excellent and I consider it to be a good investment. It's similar to having life insurance for your computer system. You hope you never need it, but you know your days are numbered. If you do need it, you (or your family) are super glad you have it.

I am having a hard time getting a straight answer from reps at dell as to how much it is going to cost to extend my warranty for 2 to 3 more years. My computer arrived on April 12th and I have not had any issues with it. The first rep said I had to wait a a month to find out how much it is going to cost and the second said 3 months. I would really like to find out before my 21 day return period is up. I tried to extend right after I ordered but was told I had to wait until I received the computer. I got a good deal on it so I didn't want to reorder at the time. I thought extending it would be no problem.

I really don't want to send this computer back as it does not have many of the issues I have seen posted on this forum. Anyone had any experience with this issue?
