    Hello everyone,

Till now I have a ASUS C90S which works rather well.

But i just see this used M17x :
    M17x with :
    Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P8400 @ 2.26GHz,
    3Gb DDR3 1066MHz,
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870 512Mo,
    1 x HDD 160Go .

I must ask the seller for more informations.

What do you think of that, at first glance ?

    Thanks for your help.

Not bad chiefs. It looks like an older model M17x. Not sure is that the R1 or the Area 51.
Oh wait it must be the R1 if it has DDR3 ram ey.

Find out from the seller how much the price will be.
It will mainly depend on the price whether or not that system will be worth it for you.
Also Dell outlet might have better systems available which you might like to check out or purchase.

    Cheers.

I was able to get the M17X in my signature from the Dell Outlet for about €800 if that factors into your decision at all. They still have a few left - however, that's in the US store, so your mileage may vary.

Hmm, isn't that a bit too old for that price? I mean sure, it's neat: Alienware...but don't you want something bit newer, with a current i5/i7 processor and maybe a mid-class -> high-class graphic card, 500GB SATA Drive almost standard included and maybe spent a bit more than 650euro... Also what if something breaks on this laptop, you can be sure, you could aswell just buy a new one again instead of repairing it.

Well said, I assume this thing has no warranty? It looks to be an M17 Area-51 pre X series. I would strongly recommend saving up a bit more to get one with a warranty and updated specs.

    Hello,

    Thanks to everyone;

The seller finally responded to me, this time made me think more.

He bought it new to Dell in the late 2008, beginning 2009.
He still own all original CDs and documents.
He has changed nothing in this pc, hardware is the same as when he bought it.
    Keyboard with no backlit.
He don't know exactly what M17 it is, not a R2 for sure, he said R1 ?
    No waranty remaining.

Fans are not very silent, says he ;)

At this point, I won't buy it.

Luminair said about refurbished M17. So I think I'm going to see more in this way.
