    Hello guys,

Today, I was asked by a friend of mine to sell him my M17x R1 which I bought last year, he would buy it 80% of its original price.

I've been wondering, does the R2 worth getting? Is there really that HUGE difference between the two?

I found that the price of the R2 now is similarely equal to R1's, if not lower.. so if I get the 920XM with CF 5870 will it worth selling?

    My R1 specs:
    Processor Core 2 Duo T9800 2.93GHz (6MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB)
    Memory 4GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz – 2 x 2048MB
Dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M, 2GB – SLI Enabled

well if he is willing to givr you 80% of the original price thats more than you would probably get otherwise.

The I core processors are definitely much faster than the Core duo's.

    and the 5870 CF > 260M

the RGB LED screen is also a big improvement over the standard CCFL screen in the R1.

there are a few growing pains with the ATI CF drivers, but Dell will eventually get it worked out.

Just hope your friend doesn't find this forum ;) Also save your money and buy the 920XM or 940XM ES on ebay. You'll save about 40% that way. I have a 920XM OEM and a 940XM ES and the ES chips work just as well as the OEM.
