So I bought my system in May of 2012. Never really had any issues until tonight. Was playing FF XIV and a tabbed out if the game to surf the web and the graphics went all fuzzy. It's never done this before so I figured I would reset and it would go away. Well it didn't and now I think my GPU is dead. I see the fuzzy hazy colors when windows is loading and even in bios screen. I have an AMD 7970 card. I also switch to the on board card and it gets 10 times worse and I never use that card.
Also when I boot up windows it gives me an error that it can't load my gadgets and if I attempt to click into my amd catalyst properties windows stops responding.
I did update my video drivers but that didn't help. What should I do? I have no more warranty and I also tried to system restore but that won't work either saying I don't have enough room on my drive left.

I just thought I should point out that I connected an external monitor to my laptop and everything looks fine on it with no problems.
Could this actually be a laptop screen issue? -
Nobody has any ideas to this? If I plug an external Monitor into my laptop it looks perfect on that monitor using the DVI connection. Even when I plug into my Plasma TV with an HDMI cable it looks perfect on there as well, so I'm guessing its not my Video Card. I checked the cord on the inside to make sure it was connected properly and there weren't any obvious signs of wear and I didn't see any but maybe my ribbon cord from my LCD to my MB has crapped out?
I see the fuzzy haze using both my integrated and discrete cards in the bios screen, windows loading screen, and when windows is loaded too. I repeat it happens with both card!
Maybe I need a new ribbon cord or an LCD panel?
I've done the hardware scan with Alien Autopsy and it found no errors. I also did the pre-boot hardware diagnostic and it found no errors with my panel or my video cards?
Help please!!! -

Maybe a new cord or new LCD could fix the issue, have you tried reinstalling the video drivers? Does it happen on the BIOS screen as well.?

Yes to both. I reformatted my computer and reinstall drivers too
It's a cord or the LCD for sure
I'm pricing stuff out but I can't find a good video showing this specific model changing the LCD only
I would rather just change the whole lid separately but the rest of my stuff works and I'm sure I can change the screen myself if it doesn't involve cutting or ripping anything out.
Seen a few videos of taking apart the base and that was easy enough but no good ones of the actually LCD.
Also I heard that replacing the screen is difficult and never really looks the same again
Is my GPU shot?
