I understand there is a thin layer of glass to protect the LED, so does it make it more durable than regular screen (which usually they are plastic)? And so what happened was my friend came over yesterday and he poked the screen with his fingernail while he was trying to point at something on the screen. Would that do any damage to the screen (although I don't see any discolouration or dead pixel yet)?

The screens are good. They can handle a finger poke or two. Just don't let your friends poke your screen with their sticky fingers and it will be fine. ;)

It's just the plastic layer protecting the screen the R4 had the plexiglass covering the LCD. If it looks alright now I wouldn't worry.

Yeah, a bit. I'm sure all of us were at one point. The build quality of this new Alienware lineup is great.

Any damage would be immediately apparent.
