My friend I was talking to was saying that on his R2, he upgraded from the base i7 or w.e it was to the high-end extreme i7(He needed a better CPU for his work load), Since I got the 2630QM on my R3, would I be able to put in a 2720QM or even a 2820QM?? If so that would be !

So my question is, is the CPU upgradeable on the R3?

    Thanks guys.

Both the 2720QM or even a 2820QM work with the R3 only (not the R2).

Yes It is,Zog you can put either of them, you just need some thermal paste when you do to put there. Also atm (or ever) the best CPU you can put there would be the 2920xm.

    Cheers

Thanks for the speedy replies guys, I was just wondering cause he can get a decent price on the 2820QM, or even the 2720QM... If the 2670QM isn't good enough for my work load I think I may upgrade...

I have read that the IC(or w.e its called) Thermal Paste works great.

    Your welcome
That is a good thermal paste and a little tricky to apply but honestly there is a very small difference between thermal paste brands.

Another question... Is there any instructions on how to upgrade the CPU on the R3??

I have fixed may Xbox's in my day... debating weather I want to install it myself, or have my IT friend do it..
