I prefer using the FN volume keys to change the volume because it's more convenient, but on my new 17 doing so changes it by 10% at a time, which is way too much. With headphones on 20% is already about the loudest I can stand. I suspect this has to do with the Alienware Audio software, but I can't find an option to change this. Is there a solution, or am I stuck using the volume mixer slider for fine control?

I don't think there is any way to reduce that. Have you checked the audio options on Windows?
