I was testing it out on my new system (see sig), and I was getting like 20-30fps during intense times, and 45 average. I would think a game made in 2007 would be able to get a consistent 50-60 on a system like mine, or I could just be ignorant. Does it run better NOT on Crossfire?

Lemme know if you have something that works well for you! I've seen desktops run it like 2 years ago with 90+ FPS constant, I can't see why I wouldn't get at least half of that consistently given the specs of my system....

...unless of course I am being ignorant :)

whats the clock speed on that i7? i remember hearing that tf2 is more cpu dependent than gpu and that quad cores dont work to well with it, duals are a bit better, and single works (worked) best. that is if the clock speed was higher on the single than the quad. i could be wrong though, they SAY they made it multi cpu friendly but the last i heard it still wasnt very good.

Well, Crysis came out in 2007, so...

You've got to compare apples to apples. Was that desktop running at 1920x1200 res with the same settings you're currently using? I used to have the 720, and I was not impressed with it. Especially if the game is CPU hungry.

OC your 720 through set FSB. You will notice a difference.

I don't really have time to research this right now as I have 2 tests to study for and a paper to write for tomorrow, can you post a link showing me how to do this and I'll hit it up later?

    I'd appreciate it.

I'm surprised that you're not getting better framerates in TF2. I've been playing a lot of other Source Engine-based games (L4D2, HL2, HL:Source, CS:Source) and even with max graphics settings I'm getting a solid 60FPS everywhere.

One thing you may want to try is to go into the advanced graphics settings and see if there's a Multi-GPU option. It's there in most of the newer Source games, and is disabled by default. Enabling this may help your frame rates. (This may not have much effect. I have the Crossfire logo turned on, and it showed up in all of these games before I turned on multi-GPU. It's also on in HL:Source, which lacks the multi-GPU setting).

One thing that may have an effect is the drivers you're using. I've found that the Dell 8.763 drivers with the new VBIOS helped considerably with framerates. I've also installed the 10.8a Crossfire profiles, which may have helped.

Yeah I noticed when I did a test run of L4D2 that I was getting beautiful framerates on max settings. I will check those settings out hopefully tomorrow after classes. Thank you for your input.

Enabling Multi-Core rendering helped a lot, constant 45-70 now, thank you!
