Yep that'll work, it's not a QX9300 though, but it'll work in your R1 and it's got unlocked multipliers. I had a QAVR and it worked great in my old R1.

well, I was going by what unclewebb was saying in this thread.

After looking at the link the guy posted, it appears to be the same dealer that im looking at too.

did you overclock yours any? if so, how high did you get it?

assuming I can get it to at least 3Ghz, I should be pretty darn happy.

There is actually no such thing as a QX9200. The QX9200 that guy posted is actually just a Q9200. No X in there anywhere, it was a chip that never made it into production except for some engineering samples, which work very well.

It is the same chip you linked in the first post. The guy just added and X to the name I guess because he relates it to an extreme chip, which it pretty much is, as it is over clock-able with it's unlocked multiplier. I would recommend this chip having used one before. Keep in mind that OC results can vary between chips, and that with an ES/QS you are only guaranteed the stock frequency. This chip should however OC quite well, at least to 2.8Ghz which is what i ran mine at 24/7. For the price, a quad at 2.8Ghz for 250$ is still a good deal.

Edit: I would think of getting this chip to 3.0Ghz as being a maximum OC, anything higher than 3.0Ghz is asking a lot from this chip on the R1, it doesn't OC as nice as a QX9300 in my experience.

Is this with or without raising the voltage?

If you want to get technical, Intel never shipped a Q9200 or a QX9200. Neither one officially exists.

Because this CPU has an unlocked multiplier and the word Extreme shows up in the CPU-Z Specifications box, this CPU is a QX. The default multiplier is 0.5 less than a QX9300 so I think QX9200 is the most accurate label for this CPU.

It doesn't much matter what you want to call it. They run great and if you can keep it cool, 3.00 GHz should be easy.

Here's what wB` recently got out of his QX9200 from laptopmonkey.

Vantage stable at 3481 MHz. Very nice CPUs if you get a good one.

Awesome, just the kind of info I was looking for. I think I will definitely be getting one of these.

He has a 7 day return policy, I guess I can keep trying them if I get one that doesn't OC well. It looks like he has several.

Raising the voltage didn't matter with mine, 2.8Ghz was my max. There were also some guys who couldn't over clock theirs at all. You will most likely have no problem OC'ing it though. If you have problems with it, just return it.

Don't buy from any Ebay retailer who doesn't have a good return policy, infact if ShirleyFu still has some of these I recommend you buy from him/her instead, they are trusted and well known, I have had great experiences with them and so have many members from NBR, ShirleyFu is also a member here at NBR.
