    Hi folks
Will try to elaborate best as I can.
I bought my m17 r4 two year ago and I didn't have any issue. It was most of my time for video editing, playing movies and little playing CoH online.
    Nothing extreme.
Recently I started World of Tanks and then my problems started.
While I'm playing WoT I noticed my fans was on high spin and of course really noisy. I mean, I can live with that. Noise was not issue.
Temp. on GPU was issue. It was 99 degree. Tried to google about "normal" temp for my HD 7970 and it seems that temp can be normal if is under 100 degree.
Installed MSI afterburner, but with my M17r4 can't do/ change anything about fans. I did that with my desktop and works well after all. I mean setting up fans to blow higher under heavy load.
But, on m17 MSI can't help me.
Installed HWiNFO64 and found at COMPAL EC sensor showing "fault".
After enabling and disabling sensor temp seems to come down around 65-80 degrees.
And after all I can live with that as well.
But, two days ago, I got two different issue:

-Go Pro Studio can't work on my videos from my Hero4 camera like before. I'm getting jerky videos with pause while I'm watching videos in Studio. Raw videos.
    I never had that issue.
    -Playing in World of Tanks
My mouse extreme lagging. Can't play that game anymore.
Checked temp on my GPU and was around 63 degree. CPU was on 100 % load and temp was around 51 degree.??!
    What can be wrong?
    And one more thing:
-Up to now I succeed fix both problems while I'm starting SpeedFan and enabling "auto control" on it and taking off battery and power it up again.
Then, fans started little bit more powerful and I can play the game and work with my Go Pro videos.

    So, what can be wrong?
    CPU?GPU?Thermal paste?Cooling?
How to check it before sending it on reparation.I don't have any insurance now.So, I need to pay by myself.

    p.s
Tried clean both fans with compressed air. And fans was not even dirty.

Thank you for your time reading this.
    BR

It could be the thermal paste, you said you bought this machine 2 year ago but im guessing you have never re pasted it before?

Nope. Not this machine. My guess was fans and I checked them.
Can't find any diagnostic tools for fans/CPU?..It seems GPU-Z not showing rpm on fans for GPU, GPU load or fan speed in %..
Does we have any option in BIOS for enabling/disabling chip on sensors for GPU?
BIOS was v.a12 and I upgraded on v.a13 assuming that can help, but, no luck whatsoever.

Try blowing compressed air in ur exhaust vents ... After 2 years you have probably a beautiful bird nest of dust by now :D

Remove the fans (held by 3 screws each, no need to disconnecting them) and blow them out. Sometimes dust is not on the fan, but on the metal grill, covering the holes and hot air can not escape. And repasting would definitely help after 2 years. By the way, if your CPU only gets to 51 under 100% load that is way colder than it should be. My guess is, your CPU is underclocking (you can CPU clocks in HWiNFO64) - check if you are not in power saver mode in your power plan.

I tried that one before. Removing battery and blowing compressed air from both side and it was "beautiful bird nest of dust" :D
I blow fans completely, grill, inside, everything.
It seems every now, every time when I'm powering my comp, I need to start HWiNFO64 to wake up fans otherwise, no playing games or rendering videos. In games extremely lagging and with video pausing all the time every sec or two. (only on raw video and only with Go Pro Studio)
Still I can play high definition movies.?!
It seems GPU fans are stuck on 35 %..How can I force them to spin more under heavy load??
I have some pic in attachment.

You probably should do a fresh windows install.. Also have you updated your GPU drivers? The GPU drivers getting old might be a bit problematic...

GPU drivers is up to date. That was first I checked.
Tried run per-diagnostic hitting F12 when booting.Everything seems to be OK.
Before I'm hitting this with a hammer, will try to replace thermal paste on CPU and GPU...
Do we have any guide with picture somewhere here?

I had something similar to the fan doing crazy stuff before ... Turned out the fan connector dislodged a bit and was causing that ... As soon as I made sure it plugged in fully it worked as it should ... Check your connectors

Could be that the GPU was fried from being that hot and now it is throttling causing the CPU to try and pick up the slack. Do you have anyone that you could test a gpu in your machine and see if that is the issue? By of course check connectors as other members have said. Maybe reseating the gpu as well.

You mean +24DC connectors from fans? Can do that. I'm quite sure when I was cleaning with compressed air, connect them back as suppose to be. Can check again.
    @ Hackintoshihope
What you mean "reseting GPU" and testing it? I would appreciated if you can write little bit more about how test and reset.
    Thx.

What he means is if you have another machine that could potentially test if your GPU is functioning or that maybe taking out the card and then putting it back in "re-seating the card" is something you could try.

I had issue with windows update from 15.04.2015 and got black screen. Tried all possible solution to fix and log on to save my data. Nothing worked.
Anw, I have fresh copy of windows 7 now on my alien rig.
And I 'm not quite sure, but I think we had somewhere here how to put graphic images from Dell/Alienware on another fresh copy of windows?
    Can't find it now.

After installing fresh copy of windows and without almost any drivers, I got BSOD telling me this:
    "STOP: c000021a {Fatal system error}
The initial session process or system terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x00000000 (0xc0000034 0x00100448)."
After that can't run safe mode, can't run system restore, can't run chkdsk /r /f ...nothing...
So I formatted disc again and fresh copy of windows again..
That time was better. I installed all drivers, BUT, couple of times after windows self restarting I was force to run check disc and every time was something corrupted. ?!
Started with windows update and after installing a big sett of 190 updates-and something got BSOD again (different that one above) and AGAIN chkdsk and this time was almost 20 min. recovering orphaned files, restoring files but, I was not able to run safe mode, or anything that can help me boot up..
And after one of my try to boot up, suddenly nothing..only black screen, no booting like before.
Checked system and found one of my HDD (system) not there. It was OCZ Vector 150-240 GB drive.
My second hard drive, data drive was there and in rage i decide to install fresh copy of windows there, without formatting drive of course.
All drivers and updated is installed, can boot up, can surf BUT :
-booting time is almost 5 min. (first one or two min, i have only black screen)
-if I'm installing something, usually will take couple of sec, but now, couple of min..Why??
What happened? I mean I don't expecting Seagate to be fast like ssd but this is far to slow for one HDD.

I'm looking for new laptop, probably asus G751JY and will not buy anymore alien ware or dell.. :( My comp is not more than 2 and half years old and never overclocked or something.
I paid for this a lot.. and then all this happening..No more dell or alien ware.

    Thank you for reading.

    Hi guys
I'm really need help on this issue. :(
I finally managed to instal fresh copy of windows 7 again, and now my ssd working like a charm. Booting time is under 15 sec.
But, I can't play any games.
My cpu running on half speed all the time. 1197,1 MHz...Tried everything I can find on google.
Power plan, disable step in Bios, downgraded BIOS to A11, downgraded chipset.
    Repasted CPU and GPU..Nothing helped.

Aida64, OCCT, CPUID HWMonitor..all program showing me -50% of my 2,4 GHz.

    Anyone??? Please.
