I can't seem to find anyone else with this issue, but whenever I'm playing xbox 360 with the hdmi input, It'll be fine for about 8 minutes or so than goes black and I have to wait for it to go back to the desktop than manually switch it back (fn+58) to get back to the game. This happens regularly any time I use the hdmi input feature, without fail. Is the some fix for this or a setting I'm missing?

You may want to try a different HDMI cable .

Usually when you are seeing black screen the handshake(its the loose term for it) gets lost.

Most of the time on all my HDMI stuff i have found its always down to the cable i was using.

Any chance it could be anything else? It regularly happens midway through a game almost like it's on a timer. Just want to make sure it's something else before I order another chord.

This happens when I'm using mine as a 2nd display for my Mac. It was the power saving settings putting the display asleep. Moving my external mouse connected to the Alienware woke the screen up. You can probably just change the settings on the Alienware under Power in the Control Panel.

    Cheers,

I never messed with the HDMI input enough to know all the nuances when i had the R3 but what Panzer is saying makes sense . You would think the HDMI in would override any system settings like sleep and such.

If its happening at the same exact time everytime then yeah it sounds like the screen is just going to sleep.

that was the problem, the monitor was going to sleep. I've had this r3 since the re released it and had pretty much stopped playing 360 because of that problem, but you definitely nailed the issue.

lol good to know. however, why someone would want to play it on a 17inch screen is beyond me :S ... Especially since the m17x r3 is so much more powerfull... What i did was the other way around. i plugged the AW on my 32inches HD tv to play crysis with my xbox controller! Now thats nice :)

I would think the HDMI in would be really useful for travel. But yeah, if you've got a bigger TV at home, using the 17" doesn't make much sense.

Imagine that, portable ps3 (not vita) as long as you have one outlet. Pretty awesome.

When i plug my PS3/XBOX360 on my HDMI-IN, the Alienware screen flashes the console screen and then it tuns black, and I can still hear the sound of the game. If i restar Windows with the console pluged, the screen goes to it, but as soon as i change back to desktop and back again to console, the issue happens again... someone please help
