    Good evening guys,

I have always been perturbed by this issue with BF3.

Now that 11.10 is out, i have clean uninstalled the 11.10P3 (using driver sweeper in safe mode etc), and installed the 11.10. I encountered problems during the installation (The infamous "CCC cannot start" issue) but resolved it by uninstalling intel HD and letting windows reinstall the driver again after reboot.

However, this is weird. I can run Rage, Deus Ex at 60 FPS but BF3 can only run at 25-35 FPS in single player (All ultra, AA options off). Even tweaking the settings to medium leaves it at 25-40 fps. The issue is also that in certain areas, i can get smooth 35-40 fps but when i move my mouse to face another direction, it will drop to 25 fps (usually street views where there are dust animations).

I have read about 6970m users getting 30-40 fps as well, but there are some people boasting about 60 FPS with everything on (Not sure if they are trolls). Am i doing anything wrong? Am i supposed to only get 25-40 fps and constant drops in FPS in different areas with 6970m?

Do you have the latest cap profile? I believe its cap 4 that's the best for amd drivers atm.

11.9 Caps are also apparently the latest ones out, but they're still compatible w/ 11.10

The people w/ 60 fps usually have the cap profiles installed for "Optimized' bf3 performance.

CAP 4 does specifically mention that it improves performance for CF. But yeah, get the latest driver and the latest CAP installed. Drivers and CAPs are for any configuration, single or CF. You will hopefully see an improvement.

hmm sadly.. i am still having 25-40 fps.. i am not sure why.. a moment it might even reach 50 but in certain areas or certain directions i will drop to 25 avg.. :( this shouldn't be happening on a 6970m?

ok just did an experiment.. even if i made everything low, the fps stays the same.. lowering resolution increases it by 5fps.. i can get 35 fps constant and when i face another direction (usually with smoke), it will drop to 25..

you might be at the limit of what your hardware can do

Are you overclocked? going to something conservative like say 800/1000 will help your fps

perhaps it is just not optimised for 6970m... cause all my other games are perfectly fine.. rage at 60fps etc.. hmm..

Try throwing the previously mentioned 800/1000 overclock on the card using Saphire Trixx. Also, have you verified that your laptop is set to High Performance in Windows and that All of the 3D settings in Catalyst Control Center are set use application preferences? Run HWInfo and see if your GPU usage is going up to ~100%.
