    Hi all,

I just installed a 2920xm with an ES2 stepping that has speeds of 2.4 - 3.4ghz into my m17x r3. The temperatures are fine right now as it idles at 45-49 degrees and load temp is about 75-78.

In the past I used throttlestop to overclock xm processors and it is a simple task but I've read a bit about the r3 and how its bios is locked, and also how the cpu I have is actually a 2820qm with unlocked multipliers.

My question is what do I need to do to properly overclock it? I've read people have taken ES chips to 4 to even 4.5ghz, I just want to reach 4.0ghz

As for iXTU, the multipliers are greyed out and I cannot adjust a single thing except for BLCK. In throttlestop I can adjust multipliers but it doesn't change a thing when I benchmark, only maxes out on 3.1ghz on 4 cores.

Finally, my bios is A08 and there's no option for level 1/2/3 overclocking.

Please help me unlock my cpu's potential in the R3 (if possible >_<)

    many thanks!

I've found the problem, I had the latest iXTU so it didn't allow me to change the multiplier. I downloaded version 2.1 and now everything works! Very happy at the performance, temps are in control and running 4.1ghz on all cores :D Thanks!
