Hey guys just bought a alienware m17x r2 off craigslist that needs some work. I've always wanted one, but their so expensive!!

    1. I'm looking to upgrade the graphics card Radeon 4870 (1600x900) to a different one for the resolution (1920x????). Do I have to change the LCD along with it to do this?

    2. The battery was in bad shape so I need a replacement. I',m not to sure where I can get a GOOD one that won't crap out fast. I know eBay has them, but there is so many of them!!

    3. The space bar and alt key are missing. I saw eBay selling them for $5 bucks each!! Is there any other place I can get them?

    4. The m17x has a fresh install of Windows 7 w/ no drivers meant for it. I noticed that the mouse pointer would lag sort of like watching a movie at 15 FPS movement. I tried all my fingers, but it would still do it

    Alienware i5 2.53ghz 540m
    4GB DDR
    500GB
    Radeon 4870

    Appreciate any input. Thank you!!

    Welcome to the community!

    1. For a higher resolution all you need to replace is the LCD, for a better performance on your current or higher resolutions you would need to upgrade your graphics card or add a second one and enable crossfire mode.

2 & 3. If you can't find a battery or keyboard send us an email at [email protected] and we'll help you get one.

    4. Here's a list with all the drivers and the correct installation order: Alienware Initial Driver Installation
