    Hey,

    I just purchased a m17x r3 with the following specs: i7-2720, 12GB ram, gtx 460m.

I am loving the laptop, every game I have played runs great. However today when I installed rift, and tried to play it, I get this annoying issue. I can play on ultra settings smoothly, then about 30 seconds or so, my screen flickers for a second then my fps drops to nothing, then 30-35 seconds later screen flickers again, and the game goes back to being smooth. It just keeps doing it. After about 2-3 hours of tinkering with settings, disabling/enabling I am at a loss. So I am asking the experts for help. Any help would be appreciated!

Also just a quick note, even if I put the settings all on low in game, the same thing still happens.

Here is a video showing my problem. (keep in mind, the screen flickers when this happens, the video just doesn't show it.)

Some of the things I have tried, I tried the 285, and the 280 geforce driver. I tried disabling speedstep/turbo boost. Put every setting on low or off in game. Nothing helps at all, this problem still occurs. This is the only game that does it.

its a problem with your temps...

The best solution is to do a repaste on your GPU with a quality thermal paste. It'll be the best 15 minutes you'll ever spend

Yea, I just flashed my bios and it didn't solve the problem :(, weird tho, is that it doesn't do it with rage for me, nor any other game. Only rift...

Incase anyone is having this throttling problem, I fixed it. All you need to do is download a program called HWiNFO64 v3.88 and force your fan speeds to max. I never throttle in any game now.
