I bought it from a friend for $600. The reason for the low price is because he rarely used it, had one of those "FBI Warning" viruses that makes it so you can't do ANYTHING except for Safe Mode with Command, has plenty of money, and because he's a great friend. I was able to system restore it to an earlier date and then deleted the virus(es) with malwarebytes and avast. Some wear marks on the E,A,S,T (didn't do that on purpose) keys which is weird...I'd expect W,A,S,D and space bar. Some light scratching on the outside lid and screen but nothing too bad. Other than that, all I had to do was really wipe it down as it was filthy.
I recently had my M14x stolen on campus (USC SC) and hence why he offered it. However...this thing is a TANK! I knew it was big and beefy but had no idea how much weight it really had. This definitely won't be one I can take to school every day, especially since I have to park 30 minutes away from my buildings and walk there (or take the bus on occasion).
That said, I'm thinking about getting something smaller and lighter...either an M11x, M14x, or a Zenbook. If I did decide to go that route, how much could I sell this one for? I'd of course have to wipe the HDD...No CDs would come with it.

It's not a bad deal, depending on the screen (1440x900 or 1920x1200 RGBLED). Depending on the full specs, you might not get much more than what you paid for.
-
It has the RGB LED 1920x1200.
I love it and all...it can easily be upgraded and be quite powerful...but I am a full time student and like to be able to bring my laptop with me, more so than playing games these days. -

If it's OOW and a single 5870M then it's an OKAY deal. If it has 2 x 5870M in Crossfire, it's a decent deal. In warranty with dual 5870M is a good deal.
-
Did check though and it does have dual 5870m. I'm also adding a Crucial SSD that I had lying around. Do you know of an "easy" way to completely transfer the contents of one drive to another, or to mirror I guess? The OS/Drivers are on the HDD and I want them on the SSD. -
You can clone the drives using a basic cloning kit- a cable and something like Norton Ghost.

It's actually a good deal I would say even without the warranty. It's still a real beast!
-
Can I clone the drive with it installed or does it have to be done via cable?
-
OOW or not, I would buy that deal over and over. I sold a laptop identical in specs, except with a 60GB ssd on Ebay for 1,000 six months ago. I really did love that laptop and it played all my games really well with the exception of BF3 which ran well at Medium. I actually had it power my 3 x 22" 5040x1050p eyefinity rig on some of my less demanding games ( my wife loved torchlight & lego harry potter ). That's a great laptop, and if it ever dies on you... you can still make most of money back parting out the good parts on Ebay.
