Just acquired an R4 with this video combo and am just wondering how bad it is at performing in games. I know it will never be anything like a 680m SLI setup, but is the 675 at least capable on a 900p screen? Not looking for BF4 Ultra Uber Maxed out but at least High would be nice.

    Thanks!

Shouldn't be a problem. The 650M can play games on Medium at 900p. You should be good.

    Here's Skyrim on the 675M @ 1080p:

    Here's Battlefield 3 on the 675M @ 1080p:

    Hi, welcome :D

At that res you'll be able to run a lot of games on a high/ultra mix settings. I'm still surprised at how well this one performs with a small OC. 45pfs to 65fps in batman AO with only res dropped to 1600 and low AA - still not hit a wall in gaming that has prompted me to buy the 680m...yet ;)

if it's your native res, you will love the GTX 675m :) with a small OC i'm sure it can run it @ high settings :)

true, it should run fine. It's good to have the highest resolution screen though. The difference is huge. :p But, great power comes with great responsibility... so a better GPU would also be needed. :p

Thanks for the replies. I'm planning on purchasing SLI 780m's over the summer when prices drop and I'll drop one of my current 680m's in the 17. Maybe sooner if the prices are right. :)

You should be fine. my 6990m which is about on par with the 675m runs battlefield 4 med/high@1080p. You won't have any issues with 900. Highly reccemend the screen upgrade though. its light-years better. ;)

The R4 doesnt support dual video card setups, so SLI 780's isnt going to work for you.

I was considering the screen upgrade, but I think for the power of the 675m and the fact that I'll be stuck with it for at least another ~6 months, I'll just deal with the 900p screen. It's not going to be a primary gaming machine anyway since I have the M18xR2 for that. This is just for my on the go or while I'm at work on-call lol.

Oh I know, I meant ordering the 780m's for my M18xR2 that has been re-purposed as my desktop. Then steal one of the 680s to put in the M17xR4. Hold on to the spare and the 675 for warranty purposes, just in case.

That's a funny setup you have there but yes that would work.
