when I ordered and received my laptop it was set in RAID 1 (MIRRORING)(2x500GB SATA II 7200RPM HDD) but due to recent failure with updates in AWbios or ATI Driver/Vbios...I had to use the AlienRespawn. It said it would restore it back to a month after I got my laptop (during that time transferred everything over to it) but it didn't, it restored it back to the original factory installation...so basically I formatted my Hard Drive >.< and lost everything that I didn't back up which was a lot, obviously.

And just now, when I went into the Intel Matrix Storage Manager. It said it was in AHCI. Is there a difference in performance to a RAID 1. Can it easily be changed back to RAID 1 without losing any data/files?

I think you pretty much have to format if you want to change between that and RAID. I'd just go with RAID0, that's just me though.

If i back-up my system and format it...after, can i just use the back-up and restore with the new RAID settings?

ps: I'm trying out Beat Hazard on my 1920x1200 WideUXGA RGB LED screen...it looks amazing!

Yea you should be able to use the restore disc in RAID mode. But ir reformats to the day it shipped from the factory not after.

if you image back up and restore, I don't see why it should be a problem, but I'd just fresh install just to be safe. Do it over the weekend!

If you are currently in AHCI settings, I remember you have to change settings in bios settings, then reboot and RAID option screen will show before the bios settings every time you reboot.
