Hello all, I just ordered my second M17x R3. I received my first one in May but my wife liked it so much I gave it to her and figured I'd get another one later on. Needless to say I have tried a couple of other brands between then and now. Dell XPS, Toshiba Qosmio X775 and ASUS G73SW-A1. The XPS was nice, but so bland compared to the Alienware. I received the Qosmio in the mail and less than 5 minutes after turning it on I boxed it up and returned it. It looked nice and everything, but the machine plastic just didn't feel all that sturdy and the mouse buttons made a loud click and rattle noise every time you clicked them. I want a system that's going to last a few years and can take some abuse (kids, military deployments, etc) and I'm really not sure the Qosmio could survive that long (I may be wrong, it might be a wonderful computer, I just didn't get that warm fuzzy with it though). As for the ASUS, I didn't actually purchase it, but I spent a lot of time in the store playing with it. I almost purchased it a couple of times, but then I would go home and use my wife's M17x R3 and finally came to the conclusion that after using the M17x R3 nothing that I had seen or tried really compared to the build quality and experience we are having with the M17x R3. My wife tells me all the time that the M17x R3 is the best computer she has ever used and that I have her spoiled with Alienware.
So anyway, after a few months of looking I decided to look for some good deals and I think I found a pretty good one on AAFES. The specs I ordered are in my signature block, but the question I had is about the CPU. I know the i7-2720QM is a higher processor than the i7-2630, but AAFES has the i7-2720QM as $130 less than the i7-2630QM.
Does anyone know why they would be having a sale with the higher CPU as less than the lower CPU? Is it because they have an overstock of them, maybe people have been ordering a lot of the i7-2630QM's? Or is it normal for companies to offer sales like this? Either way, I thought it was a good deal and figured I would pass it on to anyone who may be on the verge of purchasing and has access to AAFES.
Also, thanks to everyone on NBR for all your help. We haven't had any issues with our M17x R3, but after reading through all these posts I feel a lot more comfortable if any issues should arise.

Well its certainly the better proccessor. No idea why they would sell it cheaper but if they are, snap it up!!! Just be sure its a brand new one and not part of some used parts deal or something.

Thanks for the reply and I'm pretty sure it's new because once you place the order it goes directly to Dell/Alienware and it shows the different build stages as it's built.

Lucky you though, thts a great deal.

I've seen that too - I really just think it's a pricing mistake on the 2630, with the 2720 being properly priced.
Just ordered but I have a quick question
