I have the standard 4gb 1600 ram because i know its cheaper to upgrade by yourself. my question is that since i have 4 gb 1600 do the other to slots need to be 1600 also? Would using an 8 Gig (2by4 gig 1333) work in the other two slots making my total 12 Gb overall ram but 4 1600, 8 1333. this might be a stupid question so sorry in advance.

No your RAM will downclock to the slowest module (in your case 1333). RAM speed has no real world performance gains, so honestly whatever is cheaper.

^ That. Literally the only thing you should be looking at for RAM is capacity (that's not to say you need 16GB for gaming or anything), and maybe power consumption. Maybe pick up one of those 1.35V kits. They should give you a bit of a bump in battery (How much, I can't say).

Question: I used Crucial's memory tool, and bought 2-4GB sticks that run at 1.35v. New to upgrading, I didn't notice until after install, I can't lower voltage below 1.5v in the BIOS Advanced/O.C. settings. Am I going to fry those sticks, or does the basic settings take care of it?
