Does it matter how I plug the antenae in? Does a certain antena go to a certain plug on the card?
I think I went white/black/gray from left to right becuase of the length of the wires.
Thanks

Yes, it matters. Match the wire color to the triangle color on the 1103 or, from left to right from the top, white-gray-black. See http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m17x/651078-installing-bigfoot-killer-1103-a.html.

There weren't any color triangles, thats why I was asking! =)
Looks like I have the black and gray switched.
Thanks! -
I ordered my R4 with the standard card, didn't have the cash to get the Killer card up front, but where did you guys buy it aftermarket? I'd like to know that I can upgrade sometime down the line..
-
If you have any latency/lag signal dropping issues like I did, use the Atheros reference drivers and ditch the network manager altogether.
-
Where does one find said reference drivers?
I've been seeing this suggestion everywhere, but don't know what drivers i'm supposed to download. -
-
the correct cable order is from left to right:
White/Black/Grey
that is how dell it put in my R3.
if that isnt correct dell failed that build -
-
I got the Killer card, so did you have similar issue before? -
EDIT: seems like my killer 1103 is defective - im still getting lag spikes... -

Using the Killer 1103 with driver 9.2.0.320 (Dell Bigfoot_Win74_A03_Setup_2J8N4_ZPE) ( Drivers and Downloads | Dell [United States]) with minimal latency. Might be something else, including server lag?
-
I too have the Killer-N Wireless 1103 card in my M17x R4 and was experiencing lag spikes in Diablo 3 while on Bigfoot's official Killer-N drivers.
Did some reasearch, switched to Atheros reference drivers and not one lag spike since.
I'm currently using these http://www.station-drivers.com/tele...s_wifi_10.0.0.52(www.station-drivers.com).exe
The latest version 10.0.0.52 drivers for Windows 7 32/64-bit
Download these drivers, uninstall the Network Manager, uninstall your wireless card, reboot, reinstall w/these Atheros drivers.
The page of lists of driver versions is here: http://www.station-drivers.com/page/atheros.htm
Our 1103 chipset is the 2nd last one from the bottom, the one that starts with: "Atheros : AR5001X"
For anyone with the 1103 Killer-N card, I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend installing these Atheros drivers if you're experiencing latency/lag issues. -
EDIT: seems like D3 is going without any lag spikes... interesting why oficial drivers wont work -

I would have to find the thread but a few users show how the killer IS an atheros card with different vendor ID's in the firmware. they just modded killer's drivers and use $20 atheros cards from e-bay
UPDATE:
here you go
http://forum.notebookreview.com/hardware-components-aftermarket-upgrades/660398-killer-mod.html
the 1103 is an atheros AR5BHB112 -
Killer1103_Bigfoot_W74_2M39F_A00-Setup_ZPE
drivers from the r4 page. -
-
I have the same thing. -
-
Can't be, or the card wouldn't be working at all.
I'm on my 5Ghz band at home, nice flat speed curve on speedtest.net, maxes out my FiOS 50/20mbit.
I think it's just Bigfoot's own software and drivers. -
i transplanted my killer 1103 from R3 to R4 and used first the exact same drivers. where it worked perfectly on the R3 if got bugged on the R4.
so drivers? might be a combination with some other tech in R4.
like i said few post back, using drivers from r4 page works for me, no more glitches in BF3.

Try getting the drivers from the Bigfoot website.
-
1. White
2. Gray
3. Black -
when i install the atheros driver i get screwed for 20GB ram..
reinstalling killer driver gives it back.. -
I had a major issue with atheros driver..It throws some display drivers of the grid too.
Advisable to set restore point prior to installation. I am using Bigfoot from their website.
Clean your registries prior to installing Bigfoot or you will have a quirky mess. -
Just replaced my crappy 2230 w/ a Killer Wireless-N 1103
