    Hey everyone,

I have a M17X-R2 and I am usually soooooo careful with my laptop, but I got a little careless and spilled a soda onto the keyboard. I was able to prevent any damage to the laptop, and I tried to clean the keyboard the best I could with Q-tips and compressed air. I had turned the laptop upside down to let it drain, but unfortunately I am now experiencing sticky keys. I have tried alcohol soaked Q-tips but that hasn't really seemed to work. Does anyone know the best/easiest/safest way to clean the keys and help get rid of the stickiness? And what I mean by stickiness, is a sort of sticking and just slowness to the keys. Thanks in advance for any help.

I believe you should be able to remove the keyboard, soak it in water and a little soap and let it dry for a few days and it should be fine. It should work and not cause any damage.

That worked for another member a while ago, of course you've got to make sure the keyboard is completely dry before putting it back.

Worst case scenario get a replacement keyboard, if you can't find one shoot me a PM.

I don't have a r2, but I did that with my M17 R1 and it solved the issue, around 1.5 years ago. So go ahead and try it. Good Luck.

Be sure to unplug the battery and the power before cleaning.

Also consider remove the HDD in order to prevent lose data.

Did this and my keyboard is currently drying. So far with just playing with the keys, the stickiness is gone!!! Thanks on the advice.

I did something similar but instead of water, I went nuts all over the keyboard with proper electronics cleaner. Took 5 minutes to dry and been working fine ever since.
