Hello all,
I just noticed tonight that my keyboard does not respond while using W+E+Space together in Guild Wars 2. I double checked with World of Warcraft and it does not repsond in that game either. It does work with W+Q+Space?? Any ideas?
Thanks

Nevermind looks like a common issue with these laptops

Here's a complete list of working and not working 3-key macros for further reference

hmm.. how is it a "design limitation of Windows Operating System" when the same key combo that doesn't work on my M17xR4 works on both my desktop and my super small M11xR2.. ALL running on the same windows 7 home edition? really?

and two of the ctrl + alt + del key combinations aren't working either.. wth
i would normally hit the ctrl + alt on the left side with my left hand and hit del with the right... no longer working... only two combos that DO work are when using one key on each side of the spacebar
EDIT:
called dell and they are sending out a new keyboard for the ctrl + alt + del problem -
new replacement keyboard was sent overnight and just installed
the key ghosting issues i was having are gone now...
xanius' issue with W+E+SPACE ghosting is a keyboard hardware issue... i've tested those 3 keys in-game on the new keyboard and they work PERFECTLY -
So, do some keyboards have this issue and some do not? I would hate for a Dell tech to come out and possibly break something else just to replacement my keyboard with one that has the exact same issue.

Well I just spoke to a friend of mine with a M17x R4 and he does not have the same ghosting issues that I am having. Was there a fix for the R4 model? I am having troubles understanding how some keyboards have the issue and some do not.

I called AW tech support and was told by that person that they do not have any known issues with keyboards ghosting or acting like what I was describing. I was then told that it was a game issue and was transferred to a guy who then told me that they do know about the issue and there is nothing that they are able or willing to do about it. I went on to say that a guy on the forums was able to have a new keyboard shipped to him that fixed the issue and that one of my friends did not have the issue with his M17x. He then went on to say that they have become very strict with what they are willing to replace and there would be no way for me to get a new keyboard. If this is an issue with the R3 and not the R4 then I can accept that and move on. The fact that jaeyang9 had the issue and was then fixed with a keyboard replacement tells me that it is more a keyboard defect that does not affect everyone.
If anyone is able to shed some light on how it affects some, but not all I would really appreciate it.
Thanks -

I ended up getting a call from AW a few days after my last post. The guy on the phone told me that they were going to send out a free tactx external keyboard for me. I got the keyboard yesterday and love it, but I have to push my laptop towards the back of my desk making it very hard to see the screen, so I am back to using the laptop keyboard haha.

haha. yea i have mine plugged to an external keyboard at home too, but my desk has a keyboard tray underneath so that helps.. but gaming on the go!? can't be lugging an extra keyboard around.. haha
so i ended up calling dell tech support about the keyboard issue again.. and they decided to send me another keyboard after troubleshooting everything all over again..
why do i get the feeling the next keyboard is gonna do the same thing after a few days? lol -
I've been noticing this on my m17x R4 lately. This really is unacceptable. Examples of ghosting combos are W+D+Space+Tab and W+A+Space+E. These combos are essential for Tribes: Ascend, which is my favorite game as of late. I'll be calling support soon.

The odd issue with the 3 and 4 key combos not working is due to an electrical limitation in the keyboard itself. They can workaround it by remapping the actual circuitry but it just moves the problem to a different combination of keys. There are legitimate combinations that simply do not work on this keyboard. Just because another keyboard has it working doesn't mean that it is a defect in the one in the laptop. It just means their circuits are run differently and they will have the same problem on different combinations of keys.
