Hey everyone,
I am having trouble with my M17x R3 keyboard input. It occurs only when I play Starcraft 2 as protoss. When I have 4 - 6 warp-ins I hold shift + click the map but then the game will make a beep noise and the keyboard input will lag really bad, making it impossible to warp in units quickly. The keyboard just sorta crash due to multiple key inputs.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem and is there a solution? Thanks in advance

I haven't played SC2 in a while, but your post concerns me. How many keys are you pressing at the same time? The number of things warping in shouldn't matter at the same time, just the number of keys being pressed (being held down simultaneously). It sounds like you only holding down 1 (the shift key)? This should not be causing an overload. You can try and troubleshoot by plugging in an external keyboard. Some cheaper keyboards have tiny buffers and can be overloaded (by typing too fast) or unable to detect more than about 3 or 4 simultaneous keys, but I haven't seen this actually happen in over 10 years. My guess (and it is just a guess) is that you have some program running in the background that has a macro set to whatever key combination you are using in SC2, and in game it is inadvertantly getting activated while you are playing. In addition to trying an external keyboard, you could try a clean boot How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7 and see if it goes away too. That would isolate it to some program.
Good luck!

Hahahaha, no I am not Korean but that's funny.
LinkRS. It's hard to replicate my keypresses mentally but it should be 2, maybe 3 keys at the same time max (w + shift + ctrl sometimes) .. then the game makes a beep sound and I can't click anywhere with my mouse.
I am learning to play toss and it's really difficult when I can't do proper warp ins... the SC2 forum suggest you hold the hotkey (i.e z for zealots) and then just click the map instead of holding shift + click. At first I thought that fixed it, but in the late end when there is a lot of action going on the keyboard will "crash" again and I can't regain control until I right click, which cancels the warp in.
So far it seems you guys have not experienced this problem... I'm starting to think maybe there is a conflict with my logitech software? I am using a wireless gaming mouse G700 (wireless version of G9x) and I have Logitech SetPoint installed. Will that conflict with the normal keyboard drivers? It's a super annoying issue that cripples my ability to play as protoss, any help will be appreciated. -
The Logitech SetPoint software is normally 'generic' so it supports both Logictech keyboards and mouses (proper term for more than 1 computer mouse). I wouldn't think it would be causing the issue with the keyboard. It is starting to sound like you may be having a keyboard accessability conflict. Windows 7 has a number of features to help people use keyboards that only require single key pressess to do key chords (like beign able to press Ctrl, then press Alt, then press Del instead of all at the same time). You can check your Accessability settigns and make sure they are turned off. (You can find those in the control panel). I suggest that you just try to pay attention to the exact keys you press and in what order, cause that could identify the "feature" causing the issue. There should be no issues with keyboard buffer overflow only pressing 3 to 4 keys at the same time, unless you are wicked fast
Thanks!

Crayoshan,
It sounds a bit like a problem I had with "filter keys". If you rapidly repeat keystrokes or hold the 'shift' key for too long then Windows might be interpretting this a request for filter keys. Go to Control Panel / Ease of Access Centre /Set up Filter Keys and then turn them off.
Keyboard input overload when playing SC2?
