    Keyboard skips

    Hello all,

    I've had my new m17x laptop for about 2 weeks now but I've noticed that the keyboard skips alot, for instance, if i'm typing the typing icon will just go randomly to the middle of my sentence, or if i'm talking on facebook chat it will just stop and I have to click on the chat again to continue.

    Is there a fix for this?

    You by any chance going over the touchpad with your wrist or arm, or anything else?

    Nope, I thought of that too but even writing this sentence, with my wrists and hands clear of the pad, its still skipping to the middle of the sentence.

    Do you have an external mouse/keyboard you can test it with (disable the touchpad)?

    Yeah I've plugged in an external mouse and it still does it. Haven't tried with keyboard, whilst typing this sentence the laptop has jumped randomly to the bottom of the page and also skipped to random parts of the sentence. It seems to be possibly where ever the mouse icon is, but i'm clear of both the touchpad and the mouse, pretty odd :s

    That is weird! Sounds like a faulty key switching the focus. All I can think of is reseating the KB connector but not a quick job :(

    Did you disable the touchpad (Fn-F12)?

    Hey, it's still skipping :/ See it if i'm playing league of legends i would start typing then it would just stop and i have to reclick on the chat box to continue.

    All I can think of is reseating the KB and mousepad connectors. Can you remote into it from another machine and see if it still does it (some weird software glitch :confused:)? Very strange :(

    That's weird, have you tried the external keyboard and mouse? try connecting both to the computer and disabling the laptop's ones.

    Hey, this problem is still happenings. I was going to ask dell if they could sort this problem out. I was wondering if anyone knew how long this would take, as I use this laptop mainly for Uni.
